DUCK DONUTS, SELDEN

College Plaza in Selden is now the home to Duck Donuts‘ second Long Island location.
The North Carolina-based donut shop opened in October in a 1,650-square-foot location that previously held a card store, and before that a Quiznos.
The franchise owners — Smithtown couple Veronica and Anthony Bencivenga — eyed expansion after opening New York state’s first location in 2018 on Veterans Memorial Highway in Hauppauge.
“My family and I are very excited to be able to open this second location despite COVID,” Veronica told GreaterPortJeff.
For the uninitiated, Duck Donuts is a made-to-order donut shop. Like a Chipotle or Five Guys, there’s an assembly line ordering system where patrons can choose custom toppings and fillings for their freshly-made donuts.
“If you are in the mood for fresh, custom, and that ‘wow factor,’ come here for our donuts,” said Veronica.
