The artists on Terry Street are teaming up to bring a little bit of Miami Basel to Patchogue Village.

The first Arts on Terry festival this Sunday will have everything: street performers, chalk artists, wood, iron and glass workers — and a selection of sculptures and paintings to delight even the most casual art fans.

Arts on Terry is a collaboration of Patchogue Arts Council and the artists and residents of Artspace.

Both groups have their own gallery in the 45-unit Artspace Lofts at 20 Terry Street. (Events map below.)

“Artists who live in the building will be outside painting on easels that will be scattered about,” explained Lori Devlin, the Patchogue Arts Council president and a chief organizer. “We’re in the process of lining up the chalk artists for the Roe Walkway, so when people walk from Main Street to Terry, they’ll see all the artwork.”

The courtyard behind Toast Coffeehouse will play host to musicians and potters, she said. There will also be a sculpture exhibit set up in the neighboring Garden Club garden.

Several regional arts organization and studios from across Long Island will be setting up tents at the free event, through which they can showcase their own member works.

The event is being funded through the help of corporate sponsors, a New York State Council of the Arts grant and, of course, the wildly successful Patchogue Breakfast Crawl fundraiser.

A second crawl is already planned for May 21. (Check back for updates.)

Artspace resident-artist Dave Rogers was a big driving for behind putting Arts on Terry together.

“Miami Basel has everything, and that’s kind of what we’re doing here,” Rogers said. “It will be like that, but just over the space of about a block.”

Arts on Terry is also incorporating the first National Artspace Exhibit, through which artists from Artspace complexes — which offer affordable housing for working artists — will get the chance to display works in the Patchogue Artspace gallery.

Six different Artspace location are participating in that show, which Rogers is curating.

The festival will incorporate the piece of Terry Street where Artspace Lofts stands, just east of South Ocean Avenue, as well as the perpendicular Taylor Lane. Expect road closures in those areas.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rogers estimated between 500 and 600 artists will be involved.
