JT’s on the Bay opened for the summer season Friday in Blue Point.

And GeaterPatchogue.com caught up with owner Justin Tempelman hours before opening.

He was confident.

Consider its the restaurant’s 13th year at the end of Curtis Road at the marina.“Rain Shine. Hurricane. Snow Storm. We’ll be packed,” said Tempelman, who also owns and operates JT’s Cafe on Montauk Highway in Blue Point.

“I’m pumped; I love this place,” he said. “I live in the neighborhood. After 13 years, we’ve got such an awesome clientele. This is the neighborhood’s clubhouse for the summer.”

Among the more subtle upgrades at JT’s this year, team there fashioned the existing deck in a way so people can hang out outside and have a drink while they wait.

JT’s on the Bay is known for a line come summer weekend nights.

“We really look at this as an extension of the bar,” Tempelman said. “After 13 years, I really feel this is the best version of this place.”

And there’s new tables, chairs and indoor bar stools. DJ brunch parties are also being planned for the last Sundays in July and August.

Live music will continue every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

IF YOU GO

Until the Tuesday after Memorial Day, JT’s will be open on Fridays at 4 p.m. until the early morning hours, then from 11:30 a.m. to late on Saturdays. Same for Sundays.

Then it’s seven days a week for lunch and dinner and late-night.

JT’s also validates the town’s parking fees; the staff takes parking costs off the bill. And, there’s a golf cart that will usher people back and forth from the lot closer to Corey Beach.

The restaurant also offers up eight slips for transient boaters.
