Overnight repaving to start on East Main Street in Patchogue

|

A strip of East Main Street in the heart of downtown Patchogue is getting repaved this week, with construction happening overnight.

“It’s in need; there’s a lot of fatigue and wear and tear on that road,” said Patchogue’s public works superintendent, Joseph Dean

The roadwork will stretch from Rider Avenue east to Bay Avenue. The road will be milled and paved starting at 9 p.m. Monday.

The project could take up to four evenings to complete. weather permitting.

The road will be fully open to traffic by 6 a.m. each morning.

“So there will be no problem going to work, bringing the kids to school, grabbing a bagel or anything like that,” Dean said.

The designer crosswalk (pictured above) that was installed in 2015 between Patchogue-Medford Library and Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts will not be touched. Dean said new paving was put down for that project, and that this week’s work will blend with the paving on either side of the crosswalk.
