Flo’s Luncheonette set to open Wednesday for the season in Blue Point

|

Flo’s Luncheonette is getting set to swing open its windows for its 93rd season in Blue Point.

The Middle Road landmark opens at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, weather permitting — and the forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies.

“Everybody’s pumped,” said Flo’s owner Connor Vigliotta. “The staff is pumped. And we’re getting a lot of good feedback from our customers here in Patchogue who just can’t wait for the season to start.”

The staff has been prepping for the season in Blue Point every day to open on deadline — interrupted only when passersby stop to ask the same question:

When are you guys opening?

“It seems like everybody in the area is geared up and ready to go for this,” Vigliotta said.

Flo’s is located a block north of Corey Beach. It was started by Flo Kimball in 1926. This will mark the Vigliotta family’s 19th year operating the snack bar.

It’s also a milestone for the family, as they are now the longest-tenured owners of Flo’s in its history, according to Connor Vigliotta.

Aside from its Patchogue location, the team from Flo’s Luncheonette also operates Floasis from the town’s snack bar building on Corey Beach. Floasis is adding ceviche, guacamole and empanadas to its menus for 2019.

Floasis opens Memorial Day and will remain open on weekends, Friday to Sunday, until late June when school lets out, then Floasis will be open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. until sundown.

Flo’s Luncheonette will remain open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, though the business does close in steady downpours. Flo’s closes for the season in mid-September.

Floasis closes for the season after Labor Day.
