SC Tavern reopens under new chef, ownership in East Patchogue

|

Editor’s note: SC Tavern opens to the public on Saturday, June 15.

South Country faithful packed out their namesake neighborhood tavern for a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday night in East Patchogue.

South Country Tavern, now simply called SC Tavern, had been closed since September for infrastructural and aesthetic upgrades under a new ownership team.

Thursday was a night to finally celebrate.

“It’s been a long time coming and a lot of work, but it seems like the community is backing us, and is behind us,’ said owner Bill Hollander. “Everyone’s excited, which is good, and our food is going to bring us to a different level.”

Hollander opened the tavern with his wife, Carla, and longtime and well-known chef Sean Blakeslee, whose dad, Bruce, was on hand as well.

Also there to recognize the achievement was Bellport Mayor Ray Fell and Brookhaven Town Councilman Neil Foley, who spoke on behalf of the Town Board.

He wished the group luck and complimented the lamb chops.

“They are fantastic,” he said.

Those lamb chops are pictured below, along with other scenes from the night. Click here to read the full story behind the new SC Tavern.
