There will be two big Kilwins ice cream-eating competitions outside Capital One Plaza in Patchogue Village this week.

The events will take place around 5 p.m. Thursday at Alive After Five, and again around 5 p.m. Friday, Family Fun Night.

The Alive After Five event is being run jointly by Kilwins and Patchogue-Medford Library.

Kilwins owner John Murray said he’s modeling the contests after the one “very successful” contest he ran outside his other location during the Babylon Fall Harvest Festival & Street Fair in 2014.

“Cutest thing ever,” he said.

There will be two ages groups, 6 and under, and 7-12 years old. Each age group will consist of two heats with 10 kids each, meaning 40 children will be participating in all.

The winner of each heat gets to pick out a free treat at Kilwins.

Parents can sign up their kids at the Patchogue-Medford Library at 54-60 East Main Street for the Alive After Five competitions, and at Kilwins Chocolates at 74 East Main for Family Fun Night.
