Saturday is Bellport Day in — where else? — Bellport.

The big annual street festival run by the Bellport Chamber of Commerce kicks off at 11 a.m. on Main Street in the village.

The family event will offer pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce house and trolley rides featuring “tales of the village” narrated by the Bell Brothers, portrayed by actors from Playcrafters.

Not only that, there’s a packed lineup of performances booked for the Main Street stage, including excerpts from The Gateway’s Wizard of Oz, steel drummers from the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area, Stage Door School of Dance dancers and much more.

South Country Road/Main Street will be closed to traffic starting at 9 a.m., from New Jersey Avenue to Station Road/Bellport Lane. Parking is available along Station Road and Bellport Lane, as well as South Country Road on either side of the lane closures.

(Basically everwhere the festival isn’t being held.)

Avino’s Italian Table will be having live music — The Music of Sinatra & Friends performed by Nino — from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Check out the flyer below for complete details.

Not to be forgotten, this year’s poster contest winner is painter Christopher J . Alexander, whose work will be on sale at Bellport Day for $20 a print, with all proceeds donated to the chamber.

Here is a copy of the poster and a bit about the artist (below):

about:

In 2000, I decided to become an artist, a painter. Without any training, I taught myself to paint through experimentation and perseverance. I used the influences of my favorite painters, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe, and Wassily Kandinsky to guide me through the learning process. Today, I am confident to paint how I feel about what I see. I challenge myself to continually grow in both my technique and creativity so I can create the visions one can only see in my paintings.
