St. Joseph’s College has been playing host to the Brazilian national baseball team at its outdoor field complex off Sunrise Highway in Patchogue.

Managed by Hall of Famer and lifelong Cincinnati Red, Barry Larkin, the team is preparing for the fourth qualifying round of the World Baseball Classic.

Brazil is ranked 16th in the world for men’s baseball.

The fourth qualifying round of the World Baseball Classic will begin on Thursday, Sept. 22 with the first game at noon between Brazil and Pakistan at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
