140 LI pizzerias raise $100K+ for Farmingdale bus crash victims

|

That’s a lot of dough.

Pizzerias across Long Island teamed up last month for an incredible cause — they raised $102,200 to help those affected by the tragic Farmingdale bus crash that occurred in September.

The event, called LI Pizza Strong, was a collaboration between 140 pizzerias in both Nassau and Suffolk counties, where they donated $5 from every pie sold on Oct. 25.

In total, they dished out 15,437 pizzas.

According to the fundraiser’s Facebook page, the group stated it would donate 100% of its proceeds to the families of those critically and non-critically injured, the school’s marching band, and the families of Gina Pellettiere and Beatrice Ferrari, two educators who tragically lost their lives in the crash.

“We couldn’t have done this without the support of the pizzerias, the sponsors, and most importantly… THE COMMUNITY!” reads a post from the event’s organizer. “Thank you to all those who made October 25th, 2023, a huge success for the most deserving families.”
