The Patchogue River Clean-Up kicks off at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Patchogue-Watch Hill Ferry Terminal at 150 West Avenue (just south of the bowling alley).

Greaterpatchogue.com is a media sponsor. And, we need volunteers.

If that grand feeling of helping save the environment isn’t enough, we’re going to entice you with some great raffle prizes (more photos below).

Every volunteer who signs up to help will receive a raffle ticket for drawings that include prizes such as:

• Rain barrels donated by Cornell Horticulture Extension.

• A family four-pack of tickets to A Charlie Brown Christmas from the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

• A family four-pack of tickets to climb the Fire Island Lighthouse donated from the Lighthouse Preservation Society.

• $25 dollar gift certificates to the Village Idiot Pub.

There will also be a variety of items from Blue Point Brewery (pictures below), Fire Island National Seashore, and St. Joseph’s College. Raffle drawings will start at 1 p.m. at the ferry terminal.

Later drawings will also be held at Blue Point Brewery at 161 River Avenue, after 3 p.m.

Fun activities are also in store for volunteers and visitors to the terminal on Sunday, including a live animal touch-tank, water testing demonstrations, volunteer boat rides, and crafts for kids and adults. Feel free to show up a few minutes early.

Work gloves, trash pickers, safety equipment and light refreshments will be provided.
