South Country kids raise $4,645 for cancer research with PJ’s, jerseys

|

South Country Elementary School students in Bay Shore joined forces to raise a whopping $4,645 to help fund cancer efforts.

And they did it while keeping comfortable.

It worked like this. Students and their families had the opportunity to donate $1 in return for the privilege of donning their favorite PJs or athletic jerseys to school.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Dale, a teacher at South Country. Fifth grade student ambassadors assisted with the circulation of information. They also collected the boxes. Ms. Dale’s class counted the coins.

Ms. Boyle’s third grade class raised $409 in their one room alone.

The money went to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
