Maxwell Peters of Planet of Sound Promotions has built a following by booking and executing events that promote not only local artists and musicians, but a message of all-inclusiveness and unity.

These shows have become a sanctuary for so many in Suffolk County as judgement-free zones, where people can freely express themselves, surrounded by a community of open-minded and socially conscious individuals.

“This is really a group of introverted people having an extroverted time” says Maxwell, who lives in Mastic Beach. “I don’t like to look at it like a business; it’s not a business to me.

“What you need to focus on is your craft and people will appreciate that for what it is.”

Jackie Guma of Equilibrium Bookings works closely with Maxwell to book, promote and orchestrate shows and open mics on a weekly basis.

POSP offshoots also include a visual-focused organization called Planet Of Vision, which is run by Cat Marie of Port Jefferson and Guistina Hayes of Patchogue.

Together, these three entities have become a driving force in the arts and music community in the county. And they’ve got some great events lined up this holiday season.

First, on Dec. 11 at the Masonic Hall at 15-17 Oak Street in Patchogue, Equilibrium Bookings is presenting a very special event with no entry fees, just donations that are being collected to benefit those protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline.  The party runs from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m, and attendees can get their fill of local music, yoga, drum circles, reiki, oracle card readings and more.

Then on Dec.22 at 89 North Music Venue in Patchogue, go check out the “Sceneless Scene Showcase,” being presented by Planet Of Sound Promotions, Equilibrium Bookings and Planet Of Vision Promotions.

Sceneless Scene, which is 16 and over, is being billed as “musical festival meets art show meets flea market extravaganza.”

The following local bands and musicians will be performing: PoodleheadThe Como BrothersSalina SolomonWanderer’s Soul, Heavy Tides, KLOUD, Pozy One and Ollocs.
