Under blues skies and with the tail end of summer heat, the Pattersquash Creek Civic Association ushered in the first day of fall with its 12th annual Harvest Festival at Grace Lutheran Church in Mastic Beach on Saturday.
The event included pumpkin painting for kids, craft vendors, a farmer’s market, live music, a DJ, food and more.
Susan Steinmann, 75, of Mastic Beach, was a giving out pictures she had taken of nature in return for donations of “whatever you can give.”
In turn, she planned to donate the money to the Pattersquash Creek Civic Association and a spay and neuter operation.
By around 2 p.m., she had raised $145.
“It seems to be working out well,” she said.
