Hundreds of people lined Main Street in Sayville on Saturday morning to take in the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce’s annual Holiday Parade.
The crowd of course featured wide-eyed children, anticipating a special appearance from Santa Claus. Ole St. Nick came through at the tail end of the parade — sitting, smiling and waving from “Santa’s Workshop.” He was accompanied by Mrs. Claus and Chamber of Commerce President Eileen Tyznar, the chairperson of the day’s holiday events in Sayville.
After the parade, Santa visited with children in Winter Wonderland, which included a small ice skating rink set up in the parking lot of Main Street Shopping Plaza (Carvel and Cornucopia).
Tonight from 5 to 9 p.m., Sayville’s Main Street closes to car traffic for Miracle on Main Street. The festivities include reindeer, ice sculpting, a lego display, Dickens characters, the popular gingerbread bounce house, live music and dance performances, and the 6:30 p.m. tree lighting.
