25 photos from the fall Lakeview Cemetery clean up

Downtown Patchogue’s historic cemetery just got its fall cleaning.

On Sunday, volunteers gathered at Lakeview Cemetery off West Main Street to rake leaves, weed bushes, and pick up litter.

The event is run by the Greater Patchogue Foundation, which is a non-profit arm from the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.

Among those who helped included the local Cub Scout Pack 543, which is chartered by the Greater Patchogue Foundation.

“It is nice that there is a great connection,” said David Kennedy, the chamber’s executive director, of the two groups at the cleaning.

Patchogue Village trustee Susan Brinkman was also handed to help during the cleanup.

“We find a lot of vandalism,” she explained.

From 10 a.m. to noon, Brinkman and the rest of the volunteers did their best to help fix defaced gravestones and statues.
