3 spots to grab a great gyro in the Greater Moriches area

|

The GreaterMoriches area has a load of restaurants of all types of genres, and among the favorites are those that serve gyros. Some are straight-up Greek establishments, while others are a Mediterranean mix.

Here are three eateries you don’t want to miss if you’re in the mood for a gyro.

Greek Bites Grill & Cafe, Moriches

This Moriches staple, located at 183 Montauk Hwy., for more than a decade has been a go-to place for Greek cuisine, and it’s no wonder. It has a well-honed menu of soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches — including a host of gyro options — burgers and a selection of Greek specialties.

Mediterranean Kitchen, Mastic

This restaurant, at 1171 Montauk Hwy., offering what it describes as Turkish Mediterranean cuisine since 1998, is open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It has a selection of delectable gyros and — and a fan favorite — Greek salad, among other traditional dishes. The housemade dressings are a big bonus.

Naz’s Halal Food, Shirley

Naz’s Halal Food held a grand opening on Aug. 31, 2019, serving a choice of one of three dishes for free from noon to 4 p.m. Lines were out the door for hours. (GreaterMoriches/Carl Corry)

Opened in August 2019, Naz’s Halal Food, located at 456 William Floyd Pkwy., continues to draw in locals with its Meditteranean cuisine. The operation offers not only gyros, but rice platters, burgers, salads, wings and falafel.
