Greaterportjeff.com was viewed nearly 1/4 million times in its first year

|

GreaterPortJeff has just marked one year of covering community news in Port Jefferson and the surrounding areas.

In that time, the site was viewed nearly a 1/4 million times by 137,000 visitors.

The site covers restaurant openings, providing winter storm updates and publishing news from our schools, hospitals, and along our Main Streets from Stony Brook through Miller Place along the North Shore.

The site’s top story was about the Barito restaurant opening in the former Arden and Port Jazz space above the Starbucks in downtown Port Jefferson.

GreaterPortJeff, which launched on Sept. 13, 2017, is a part of Greater Long Island Media Group, the island’s fastest-growing news company.

Greater Long Island’s content manager, Nicholas Esposito, said the most rewarding part of publishing news to GreaterPortJeff has been the community support.

Esposito is a professional journalist and Newfield High School graduate who lives in Centereach.

“I’ve always wanted the company to expand to the North Shore, having lived so close,” he said. “I’m just so happy about how well we’ve been accepted locally, from the chambers of commerce, to the libraries, to the restaurants.”

In this past year, Esposito has also spearheaded the coverage of collegiate sports at Stony Brook University. Click here for our newsletters so you don’t miss the current game coverage of Stony Brook football.

Greater Long Island also runs news sites in the Patchogue, Bay Shore and Babylon areas on the South Shore. GreaterPortJeff is the only North Shore news site.
