L.I. Craft Beer Week: Pair cheese with beer during ‘The Finer Things’ at Spider Bite

Long Island Craft Beer Week |

Move over, Burgundy! On this night, we pair this raclette with beer!

And not just any beer, but Bready McBreadFace (real name), an almost cereal-like, malty, English-style ale with a hint of honey!

“WHAT?!? HERESY!” sez thou? Not so, my friends.

As the craft beer movement burgeons, people are discovering more and more that beer is as versatile (if not more so) than wine. Brooklyn Brewery’s own Garret Oliver makes many compelling cases for this in his book, The Brewmaster’s Table.

And guess what? That was published in 2003.

As Long Island Craft Beer Week comes upon us (May 12-21), make sure to check out all the events and tastings in the region. But don’t miss out on Spider Bite Beer Company and Bellport Brewing Company’s collaborative event, “The Finer Things” at Spider Bite in Holbrook.

Cheeses selected by Slates and Plates Inc. will be paired with beers from Spider Bite and Bellport Brewing. Additionally, a bottle of “Finer Things,” a chocolate rye porter collaboratively brewed by Larry and Brian, is included in the fee! (Extras are available for purchase.)

This fine event happens May 15a few days after the L.I. Beer Week kickoff. Doors open at 6 p.m., the event starts at 6:30 p.m.

$45 gets you all sorts of beery, cheesy goodnes.

Come on down, celebrate Long Island Craft Beer Week and see for yourself if Bready McBreadFace doesn’t stack up well against a $15,000 of Richebourg Grand Cru!
