Patchogue Village’s recreation & parks department is in need of volunteers for next month’s St. Patrick’s Parade/5K run.
The downtown festivities kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19.
The type of jobs would include:
• Handing water to runners as they pass the finish line.
• Manning the streets with barricades at designated posts that ensure the safety of the runners as they run the course.
• Cheering runners on as they pass.
• One- and two-mile callers are also needed.
“Basically I need people on the street helping man the roads,” said Maria Giustizia-Hilton, the recreation & parks director.
It’s the 21st annual event, which is co-sponsored by the village and the Greater Patchogue Foundation.
It features floats, pipe band and more.
Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to contact the department’s office at (631) 475-4302, ext. 162.
