It’s a whole month of ‘pink’ in Port Jefferson with Mather Hospital

|

Throughout October, residents and visitors to the Port Jefferson and Port Jeff Station might notice pink cocktails, pink cupcakes, pink hair extensions and much more pink.

That’s because it’s John T. Mather Memorial Hospital’s month-long breast cancer awareness campaign, “Paint Port Pink,” which takes place across the Greater Port Jeff area.

This is an annual campaign, and even more community partners and events are included this year, Mather has announced.

New to the October festivities is a Paint Nite at Comsewogue Public Library in Port Jefferson Station (Oct. 13) and Muse Paintbar in Port Jefferson (Oct. 26).

Then there are the fun, pink-driven promotions at the shops and restaurants.

For example, throughout the month, 100 percent of proceeds from sales of Brewology 295’s pink cocktail will benefit the Fund for Uninsured.

Fedora Lounge Boutique Hair Salon in Port Jefferson is offering pink hair extensions for $15 or two for $20 during the month of October with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Fund for Uninsured.

And Roger’s Frigate in Port Jefferson is donating 100 percent of the proceeds from pink cupcake sales during the month of October, also to benefit the Fund for Uninsured.

This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the U.S.

Kristy Verity of Brewology 295 said the Main Street gastro pub offers up a pink drink for Mather every October.

“Each year Brewology makes a pink drink and donates all the proceeds to Paint Port Pink,” she said. “This year, we’re serving Pink Bubbles; our newly released sparkling rosé will be available by the glass for October only.” (After that it’s by the bottle only.)

“We’re always happy to work together, raising awareness for breast cancer, ” Verity said.
