The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for western Suffolk and Nassau County that will go into effect Sunday evening and run through Monday morning.
The Weather Service is forecasting 2 to 6 inches of snow for those areas of Long Island, as well as Middlesex County in Connecticut.
Motorists are being warned of hazardous travel — with slippery roads and limited visibilities — as light rain moves into the area on the onset of Sunday evening and turns quickly to snow.
The snow will then taper off Monday morning.
The advisory runs from 6 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday.
