The state education department this year bestowed upon Bayport-Blue Point High School the honor of being named a Reward School based on last school year’s student performances.
In order to be recognized as a Reward School by the NYSED, a school must meet the standards of multiple criteria that includes a display of high achievement or high progress, impressive assessment scores and a stellar graduation rate, according to a district announcement.
The recognized schools include 79 New York City public schools, 88 public schools in the rest of the state and 18 public charter schools. Two dozen high schools on Long Island were recognized. Here is the full list.
“Bayport-Blue Point High School’s students and faculty are very proud of this recognition from the New York State Education Department,” said the high school’s principal, Dr. Gaurav Passi. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our teachers, our students and their parents.”
“This recognition would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of our staff, students, families and community as a whole,” said the district’s new superintendent, Dr. Timothy Hearney. “I am extremely proud of everyone who has contributed toward receiving this honor for the past several years.”
