The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of Saturday’s Chili and Chowder Festival contest.

The tastiest chowder went to Catch Oyster Bar and its lobster and crab corn chowder.

Catch won with a whopping 50 percent of the vote.

“There is a lot of good competition in Patchouge and its cool to be one of them,” said Catch owner Michael Avino.

“Now that I have the [title] its going to be hard to let it go,” he joked.

For the chili competition, the short rib chili with avocado cilantro sour cream won it for the BrickHouse Brewery.

“It feels amazing; I am so proud of us,” said BrickHouse’s general manager, Maud Franklin, after learning of the win.

This year’s event was the largest by way of tasters and restaurant participation, said David Kennedy, the chamber’s executive director.

The explained the format changed for this year’s installment of the festival; this year the chili and chowders were available at two different times of the day for tasting.

“The winners won by the largest margins [in the festival history],” Kennedy added.

BrickHouse nabbed about 30 percent in the chili competition.

“The people really love this contest,” said Kennedy.

Also in the chowder contest, RHUM took second place and Village Idiot Pub took third pace.

In the chili contest, Fulton’s Gate took second and RHUM took third.

Certificates will be awarded to both winners later this week.
