Move over Patchogue and Oakdale, there is a new Village Idiot coming to Long Island.
The owners of the bar/restaurant told GreaterPatchogue they will be hosting a grand opening for their newest venture in Lake Grove on Wednesday, Sept 4.
As previously reported, Village Idiot Pub III will be run by John Sarno and his old bartender buddy, John Scally. The two worked together at Napper Tandy’s in Smithtown.
The longtime friends are opening up their pub in a 5,500-square-foot building at 2811 Middle Country Road near Centereach, which previously housed a Pomodorino, then a Taste of India.
Sarno is very familiar with the area, growing up in nearby Centereach.
“Beyond excited to bring the fun and feel of the Village Idiot Pub to my hometown,” said the 44-year-old. “A place that I grew up in and spent the first 39 years of my life in.”
According to the owners, the Village Idiot will boast a family-friendly vibe, while featuring catering rooms and 30 flatscreen TVs on the walls.
The space, which can hold up to 200 people, also sports a stage for live musical entertainment.
“It’s a place that the community desperately needs,” said Sarno. “Someplace you can come to relax in, eat with your family, hold a family party.”
