Fogo de Chão opening a location in the Walt Whitman Mall

|

The international Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão is opening yet another Long Island location.

Coming to the Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington Station, this new location marks the fourth New York metro restaurant and second on Long Island, following spots in White Plains, Manhattan and the Smith Haven Mall.

Fogo has 56 locations across the globe, including 44 in the U.S., six in Brazil, four in Mexico and in the Middle East.

“Fogo offers a unique dining experience that goes beyond a traditional restaurant setting,” said Barry McGowan, Fogo de Chão’s CEO. “We’ve been fortunate to be able to bring our experience to New Yorkers for nearly 10 years, and we look forward to soon serving our trademark Brazilian hospitality to guests in Huntington Station, as well.”

Founded in 1979, Fogo de Chão, which translates to campfire, or fire on the ground, uses a traditional, centuries-old Brazilian technique called churrasco.

Churrasco is not only a technique of roasting meat over an open flame, it’s an entire cultural dining experience.

Fogo de Chão is known for its variety of butchered meats, like dry-aged or premium Waygu cuts, that are fire-roasted and carved tableside by gaucho chefs.

Walt Whitman’s Fogo de Chão, designed in collaboration with GH+A Design Studios, will feature a bar, lounge and an authentic churrasco grill in the heart of the restaurant’s dining room.

Guests will be able to watch Fogo’s gaucho chefs conduct the entire churrasco process.

The restaurant will have over 300 seats, as well as an open-air outdoor patio.

As far as the atmosphere and décor, the new location will be adorned with a marble exterior, soaring windows, modern chandeliers, national wood paneling and rich furnishing colors that are a nod to the brand’s Brazilian heritage.

Guests can also marvel at the glass-encased wine room displaying many of South America’s finest varietals and a dry-aged meat cabinet for in-restaurant aging.

Besides meats, there are also seafood options, seasonal dishes, and fresh fruits and vegetables on the Market Table for customers.

There are plans at Walt Whitman for a weekday lunch option starting at $15, along with specialty Brazilian-inspired cocktails, premium whiskey and bourbon, and an all-day happy hour.

The Huntington Station location will also offer Fogo To-Go and offsite catering. It will be located between The Cheesecake Factory and Panera Bread, closest to the Bloomingdale’s entrance.

Representatives could not provide a reporter with an estimated opening date.
