Three childhood friends and Long Islanders behind the GOAT USA retail phenomenon will open their fifth GOAT store next month — this time at Tanger Outlets Deer Park.
The grand opening is set for Saturday, Oct. 5, in a 2,400-square-foot space next to Pacsun and across from Skechers, a company announcement reads.
Dylan McLaughlin, Rich Alfaro and TJ Cristina, all athletes from Carle Place High School, conceived of the company in 2016.
GOAT USA has since gained a national following.
GLI’s Jamie Stuart interviewed the three founders when he was with News 12 Long Island.
“Our goal is to take this goat to the top of the mountain,” Cristina told Stuart in 2021.
The three started the company in Alfaro’s grandfather’s basement. It then took a huge leap in 2019, when a buyer from Dick’s Sporting Goods emailed the trio with an unsolicited offer to carry GOAT USA products in their stores — up to 250 nationwide.
“I feel like we’re just scratching the surface,” McLaughlin said at the time.
They later started opening their own stores.
Deer Park will mark the third Long Island store, joining the ones at Roosevelt Field and Tanger Outlets in Riverhead. The company’s other locations are in New Jersey, at the Garden State Plaza, and King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania.
If you go
GOAT USA fans will also be pleased to learn that throughout the grand opening weekend in Deer Park, customers will enjoy 20 percent off when purchasing three or more items, and receive a free backpack with any purchases over $100.
