The Bohemia and Wading River communities and beyond have come together to support a local family coping with a difficult loss.
Christine Ludwig and her two children, Gavin, 15, and 13-year-old Kayla of Bohemia are mourning the passing of their husband and dad, Richard (“Rick”), who recently lost his battle with chronic lymphatic leukemia. During their bereavement, the family is also confronting the financial challenges of medical expenses and daily living costs.
To alleviate some of these burdens, a GoFundMe campaign titled “Support for My Sister and Her Children” was launched by Christine’s sister, Nicole Villorente, of Wading River.
The fundraiser has garnered overwhelming support from the community, raising nearly $12,000 through 55 donations. The funds will go directly to Christine and her children to help them navigate this difficult time, Villorente said.
Villorente expressed gratitude in a heartfelt message on the GoFundMe page, stating, “On behalf of our whole family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support.”
The campaign continues to accept donations. For more information or to contribute, visit the GoFundMe page posted below.
Ludwig is also survived by his brother David; sisters Laura, Suzanne and Nancy; sister-in-law Nicole, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
