Lindsay Fritch, who has served as assistant principal since 2023, will take the helm July 1.
The Elwood School District has appointed Lindsay Fritch as the next principal of Elwood-John H. Glenn High School, effective July 1.
The district’s board of education approved Fritch’s appointment on Thursday. She’ll succeed Irene McLaughlin, who held the post on an interim basis this school year.
The Smithtown resident has served as John Glenn’s assistant principal since 2023, arriving from South Country schools, where she worked as a special education teacher before rising to special education chairperson and teacher on special assignment. She also previously taught high school history in the School District of Philadelphia.
Fritch holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Brown University, a master’s degree in secondary social studies from the University of Pennsylvania, a special education certification from Drexel University, and a school leadership certificate from Stony Brook University.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to continue my professional journey within a district as dedicated and supportive as Elwood,” Fritch said. “I am eager to embrace the responsibilities of principal and look forward to hitting the ground running, as we work together to support the achievement of every student.”
School board President James Tomeo congratulated Fritch at the board’s meeting on Thursday.
“You have made a great impact thus far, and we are appreciative of your willingness to take that next step in your career journey at John Glenn High School,” he said.
John Glenn senior and ex officio student board member Peter Bell also praised the pick.
“During Ms. Fritch’s time as assistant principal, I have witnessed firsthand her dedication, integrity and unwavering commitment to our school community,” he said. “She has consistently led with compassion in supporting both students and staff. She has brought out the best in everyone around her.”
