A bandshell is coming to Medford’s Veterans Park this summer

|

The Town of Brookhaven Parks Department is teaming up with Suffolk County officials to add a bandshell to the town’s Veterans Memorial Park in Medford.

The joint project started at the beginning of July and is expected to be completed any day now.

Located in the heart of Medford at Route 112 and Peconic Avenue, town officials say the park serves as the ideal spot for the bandshell and future community events. Several events are held during the warmer months at the park, as well as an annual outdoor concert series.

Funding is coming from a Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization grant and a Caithness “Community Benefits Package” grant.

“Veterans Park has become a center of activity in the Medford community and the new bandshell will certainly allow for more events,” said Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine. “This is another good example of how different levels of government can work together to benefit our residents.”
