A popular cookie pop-up has found a permanent home on Main Street in Northport — the same place where its owners first dreamed up the business.
The Village Cookie, which launched last summer, opened its first brick-and-mortar shop May 22 at 112 Main St.
The idea started in August 2025, when East Northport couple Phil and Lourna Evangelista were walking along Northport’s Main Street and realized something was missing: a grab-and-go cookie shop.
The self-described cookie lovers began testing recipes at home, sharing small batches with family and friends before eventually taking orders.
The couple launched an e-commerce site, but Lourna knew customers needed a place to try the cookies in person if they wanted to grow the business.
The Village Cookie held its first pop-up outside Northport Books in November 2025. Five months later, the Evangelistas landed a narrow storefront directly across the street.
They received the keys April 1 and continued holding pop-ups while renovating the space.
On opening day, demand came quickly.
“We actually made our inventory for the pop-ups and sold out in three hours,” Lourna recalled.
The cookies are made in small batches with premium ingredients, including Belgian chocolate and salted European butter.
The regular lineup includes OG Chocolate Chip, Smothering S’mores, cooKISS n’ Creme, BisCookie and Raisin’ Oats.
The Village Cookie also became known for seasonal flavors during its pop-up days. Since opening the storefront, the couple has shifted to a rotating menu of weekly small-batch specials.
For Northport’s annual Harry Potter Day, for example, they baked a Butterbeer Cookie. Limited-edition flavors are available Friday through Sunday, or until they sell out.
Lourna said she is looking forward to bringing back the shop’s ube flavor as summer turns to fall and also teased a “cohesive cookie campaign” for the holidays.
She said what separates The Village Cookie from other cookie shops is the passion that goes into each batch.
“We really want to maintain the quality of a cookie that feels like it’s home baked,” she added. “Our brand is all about taking a pause and enjoying the cookie . . . with the special people in your life. We want to be part of those moments.”
The Village Cookie plans to reopen its e-commerce site soon and is also exploring delivery through Uber Eats, DoorDash and other platforms.
