Almost two decades after closing in Huntington Station, a Long Island staple has returned under new ownership in Huntington Village.
The original Burger Haven opened in 1961 at 76 E. Pulaski Road, where the Conte family served homemade, affordable burgers for 47 years. The spot became a community favorite until it closed in 2008.
Now, Burger Haven is back. New owner Paul Hansen, who previously ran Kick’N Chicken, has revived the brand at 339 New York Ave., taking over his former restaurant’s space.
“People are nostalgic about Burger Haven,” Hansen told Greater Long Island. “And we knew the location could be something great.”
Hansen said he’s sticking to the roots of the original menu, replicating the burgers and keeping things simple. The offerings include quarter-pound burgers, a fried chicken sandwich, hand-cut fries, onion rings, and milkshakes.
The return of Burger Haven comes just weeks after Hansen and his partners opened Paulie’s Pizzeria in Huntington Station. That location carries its own dose of nostalgia — it sits inside the original Burger Haven space on Pulaski Road. After the Conte family sold in 2008, Marco’s Pizza operated there until this past spring, when Hansen took over.
Burger Haven is open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
