Police investigate afternoon crash on Long Island Expressway near Commack Road

Suffolk Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred Friday afternoon on the Long Island Expressway near Commack Road.

Authorities said the 3:06 p.m. crash occurred in Dix Hills near Exit 52 on the expressway. All North Service Road traffic at Commack Road has remained shut down for hours as police investigated the incident.

Passersby at the scene reported that a woman was ejected from one of the vehicles involved.

Police have not provided information about possible injuries. Nor have they released details on the circumstances surrounding the crash.
