The state DOT is advising motorists that stretches of both the Long Island Expressway and Northern State Parkway in Nassau County will be closed to traffic in the overnight hours for about two weeks in December.
It all starts the night of Monday, Dec. 2, when the westbound lanes of both roadways will be closed on weeknights.
Scroll down for full details.
LIE closures
The westbound LIE lanes between Exit 48 (Round Swap Road) and Exit 46 (Sunnyside Boulevard) will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights during that anticipated time frame, a DOT advisory reads.
The closures are designed to facilitate asphalt paving repairs, state officials announced this week. All vehicles will be detoured onto the North Service Road.
Electronic message signs near the work zone will display updates for motorists.
Northern State closures
The westbound Northern State Parkway will be closed between Exit 35 (State Route 106/107) and Exit 33 (Wantagh State Parkway) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, also to facilitate asphalt pavement repairs.
The entrance ramps from State Route106/107 and Brush Hollow Road to the westbound Northern State Parkway will also be closed, officials said.
Parkway traffic will be diverted to State Route 106/107 northbound for access to the westbound LIE.
At that point the LIE closures detailed above will be behind you, to the east.
