Alex Vargas is ‘feeling really good’ heading into bout against fellow undefeated boxer

|

Alex Vargas and his undefeated record will be put to the test when he steps into the ring later this month.

The 4-0 boxer, who has one career knockout, is scheduled to face-off against fellow southpaw fighter Dashaun Johns (2-0, 1 KO) on Saturday, Nov. 23 at The Paramount of Huntington.

The match is part of the Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing “Rockin’ Fights” 37.

For the first time in their pro careers, Vargas and Johns will be battling in a six-round bout — the fighters have previously fought in four-round matches.

“I am feeling really good heading into [this fight],” Vargas told GreaterPatchogue. “I feel comfortable having a few more rounds to figure out my opponent.”

The Bellport fighter has been impressive in his career thus far, winning each fight that went the distance by unanimous decision.

His opponent, a Bronx resident, is looking forward to challenging the rising welterweight.

“To be the best, you have to fight the best,” Johns said in a statement. “This is my legacy. Come fight night, he better keep that same energy.”

El Toro intends to do just that

“A lot of people are interested in this matchup but I’m ready for the moment and am looking to give one of my better performances,” said Vargas.
