Alive After Five is ON for tonight, July 11, despite chance of rain

|

The summer’s second installment of Alive After Five is on for tonight, Thursday, July 11.

The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, which organizes Long Island’s most popular summer festival series, made the call just after noon today.

“My read is we should be good/no storms until after 8 p.m., said David Kennedy, the Patchogue chamber’s executive director.

The National Weather Service is predicting “a slight chance of showers” between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. South wind 11 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.”

But the NWS warns of heavier rainfalls to come in the overnight, “mainly before 5 a.m.”
