All about Cloud Nine Ice Cream & Cereal Bar coming to Patchogue

|

There was Matthew Pesko, dipping into his first-ever cereal-infused ice cream at a place in lower Manhattan.

And he was on cloud nine.

“I sat there for an hour, just mesmerized at how good this was,” he told GreaterPatchogue about that Fruity Pebbles and Trix-infused concoction.

Then his wheels got to turning.

“I just wanted everyone out here to try this,” he said.

Pesko is a Sayville High School graduate (2011) now living in Port Jefferson. He had been wanting to open a brick-and-mortar business in Suffolk County.

At first bite, he knew this cereal ice cream thing was it for him.

Pesko, 27, immediately began looking for locations to open his own cereal bar, zeroing in on Patchogue Village.

Fast forward to today, he’s just months away from opening Cloud Nine Ice Cream & Cereal Bar on South Ocean Avenue, where the short-lived Bar-A-Dessert used to be.

The village Planning Board approved the plans in November. The idea is to open this spring.

Cloud Nine will offer cereal-infused ice cream that could be whipped up in just two minutes using special machines, as well as regular ice cream, milkshakes, cereal bowls and other cereal-based treats.

He and his girlfriend came up with the name, and tagline: the sky’s the limit.

“We thought [the name] was kid friendly,” he said. “And when you’re on cloud nine that’s the best thing in the world; you have the best thoughts in the world and you’ll be eating the best dessert in the world, which is our ice cream.”

And with all those cereals and ice cream options, “really the sky is the limit; you can create anything you can dream of,” he said.

The cosmetic makeover inside 38 South Ocean Avenue is already underway.

“I don’t want this just to be a place to get ice cream,” Pesko said. “I want this to be an experience for every customer that walks into Cloud Nine.”
