Brookhaven Animal Shelter promotes adoption with Irish-themed events

|

Whether you’re looking for a furry friend or just want to help out, the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center has three events this month focusing on adoptions and donations.

The fun begins Saturday, March 7 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the seventh annual St. Pitties Day Party and Adoption Event at Buckley’s Irish Pub in Center Moriches. Bagpiper Robert will be providing entertainment and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Additional excitement includes a 50/50, shamrock, lottery tickets and a Chinese auction.

There is a required $20 donation. Each donated pet item, such as toys, blankets and food, is worth a raffle ticket.

For the shelter’s “Irish I Had A Home” special on March 16 and 17, furry friends can find a new home for just $65, half off the normal fee.

According to the animal shelter, every adoption will include free neuter or spay, vaccinations, microchip, license, heartworm, flea and fecal tests.

The town-run center is currently at maximum capacity with dogs, primarily housing pit bulls. Cats and kittens will also be available to adopt as well. See some of the friendly faces looking for forever homes below.

Find a new forever friend at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition, there will be a donation drive on Saturday, March 21, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. to benefit Brookhaven Animal Shelter. In addition to pet supplies, peanut butter and Cheerios, gift cards from Shirley Feed, Stop & Shop, Amazon and Integrative Veterinary Therapies are welcome.
