An Asian fusion restaurant called N’Joy is being planned for the former Tokyo Japanese Restaurant NY in Babylon Village.
N’Joy, if OK’d by the village, would feature dishes from China, Japan and Thailand.
“I am absolutely excited about [opening],” said N’Joy’s co-owner, Andre Clark. “It has been a long process.”
The ownership group stood before the Babylon Village Board during a public hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 9, to lay out its plans, which will be considered later for approval.
The village has instituted a new restaurant moratorium, but since N’Joy would be taking a spot last occupied by a restaurant at 96 East Main Street, the application is eligible.
Some of the plans detailed in the meeting included the addition of a sushi bar, as well as N’Joy acquiring a full liquor license.
Clarke, who co-owns another Asian restaurant in Brooklyn, zeroed in on Babylon Village because he has friends who know the area very well and encouraged him to open shop here.
“They said it was a great place and that the community is put together well, very family oriented,” he said.
Clarke plans to open N’Joy with his partners later this year.
