A Bahama Breeze spokesperson confirmed the Lake Grove closure is one of 15 locations the chain shut down nationwide this week, according to a report.
“We continually evaluate the performance of all our restaurants,” said Kiara Buckner, a spokesperson for Bahama Breeze’s parent company Darden Restaurants, told USA TODAY. “Closing a restaurant is a difficult choice because it impacts our team members and guests.
“However, we believe this is the right decision because it will allow Bahama Breeze to focus on its highest performing restaurants and strengthen the brand’s overall performance,” she added.
The Bahama Breeze at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove was the chain’s only Long Island location. It’s unclear whether the company plans to reopen elsewhere in Suffolk or Nassau counties.
The nearest Bahama Breeze locations are located in New Jersey.
