Saturday is Bellport Day in — where else? — Bellport. The street festival kicks off at 11 a.m.

Chris Hane, president of the Bellport Chamber of Commerce, which runs the event, said the 2015 installment will feature a stretch of South Country Road in the village that’s closed to traffic.

“This year we’re doing something we’ve never done before; we’re closing the road so the festival could happen right there on Main Street,” Hane said. “This has been a way for the business district to give back to the community. And it’s a way of getting people down into the village to see what Bellport has to offer. We have so many good restaurants, shopping, and a big arts community. We just want to have a good time.”

There’s also going to be a trolley that brings people back and forth between Main Street and Bellport Bay.

A stage for bands will be set up in the street near the Bellport firehouse. South Country Road/Main Street will be closed to traffic starting at 9 a.m., from New Jersey Avenue to Station Road/Bellport Lane.

Also on Saturday, the staffers at Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company are hosting a fundraiser Saturday evening for their beloved co-worker, Desiree Vermeulen, who is recovering from a debilitating stroke she suffered in May.

And the show Billy Elliot has bee running at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.
