Retiring Bellport girls volleyball coach Larry Auth recorded his 400th career victory this fall, as the Clippers went 13-5 and cruised to yet another berth in the Suffolk County playoffs.
Auth has been the varsity program’s head coach for 27 seasons, coaching generations of student-athletes and guiding the team to the playoffs in each of those seasons. Bellport dropped a first-round match to Smithtown East in the Suffolk County playoffs, leaving Auth with 407 career wins.
Auth is a special education teacher who has also coached wrestling and girls soccer. He retiring at the end of the school year, according to the South Country School District.
