Arella Guirantes, a Bellport High School basketball phenom, had a lifelong dream realized Thursday night when she got the call.

She was selected in the second round of the 2021 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks.

The 5-foot-11 dynamic guard, who was picked at No. 22, was a star in both high school and college.

At Bellport High School she amassed 2,251 total varsity points — the most by any player girl or boy in the school’s history.

As a touted prospect, she began her college career at Texas Tech before transferring to Rutgers for her last three seasons of eligibility.

She’s a two-time All-American and three-time All-Big Ten selection and has been a finalist for several prestigious awards, including the 2021 The Dawn Staley Award, an honor for the top women’s guard in the country.

In her senior season, the hooper averaged 21.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. Guirantes finished her time with the Scarlet Knights totaling 1,676 points.
