Bellport’s Gregg Giannotti co-hosting WFAN morning show this week with Boomer Esiason

|

Long Island will be well represented this week on the WFAN morning show.

Bellport High School Class of 2000 graduate Gregg Giannotti will be taking over the chair formerly occupied by Craig Carton, who’s off the show after his recent arrest over federal fraud charges.

Giannotti will be co-hosting alongside former NFL quarterback and East Islip High School 1979 graduate — at least for this week.

Giannotti reported the news on his popular Twitter feed.

The Bellport resident is currently co-hosts the Gio and Jones national morning show through CBS Sports Radio, but the show doesn’t air in the New York area.

Prior to the Gio and Jones show, Giannotti co-hosted the morning show on  93.7 FM The Fan in Pittsburgh for five years.

He has made spot appearances on WFAN Sports Radio 660, the world’s first all-sports 24/7 radio station.

Loyal WFAN listeners omight also recognize Giannotti’s voice from when he produced the midday Joe & Evan Show in New York. That was before he left for Pittsburgh in 2010.

Giannotti had previously told GreaterLI he enjoys appearing on the New York City-based station, not only because of his personal connection with 660, but because his friends and family get to listen along.

“I’ve loved WFAN since I was a kid,” he told us this week. “I’ve had a chance to work there behind the scenes and now I’ll get a chance to work with Boomer and the best crew in radio for a week. Pretty cool stuff.”

Management at WFAN have given no indication as to who the permanent replacement might be for Carton, who’s from upstate.

WFAN also broadcasts 101.9 FM. The morning show runs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
