The Whisk Bakery in Smithtown is closing its doors after nearly seven years in business.
The bakery has become well known over the years for its affable owner, rainbow crumb cake, “crookie” cookie-croissants, and steady social-media buzz.
Owner Amanda Vigliarolo shared the news in an Instagram letter to customers this week, calling it an “incredibly difficult decision” and thanking the community for years of support.
“After almost 7 wonderful years, filled with sweet memories, birthday cakes stacked to the ceiling, countless crumb cakes, and so much love, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to close The Whisk Bakery,” she wrote. “This was not a decision I took lightly, and it comes with many tears, and also excitement for this next chapter.”
The shop opened to fanfare in 2019, offering cookies, custom cakes, and whimsical baked goods.
At the time, Vigliarolo told Patch that launching The Whisk was a longtime dream and that she hoped to create “a bakery where everything feels personal and homemade.”
Why they’re closing
According to Vigliarolo’s message, the bakery had been for sale for a year, but with no deal secured and costs continuing to rise, the family made the decision to close before the start of the new year.
She cited increases in “the rising cost of goods, utilities, wages, and rent,” and also shared that her family is preparing for a life-changing milestone.
“The cherry on top: my husband and I found out in the middle of The Whisk being for sale that we are welcoming our first baby this February.”
Honoring her staff, customers
Vigliarolo used much of the note to thank her team — including employees who have been with her since the beginning — and the loyal customers who helped shape the bakery’s identity.
“Each of you has poured your heart into making The Whisk what it is, and I am forever grateful.”
She also thanked the community, writing:
“You’ve celebrated your birthdays, weddings, milestones, and everyday joys with us. You’ve supported us through the highs and the lows, and it has truly been an honor to be a small part of your lives.”
Last day, what to expect
The Whisk Bakery’s final day will be Friday, December 26, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vigliarolo said the shop will bake through its remaining ingredients and will not take any further custom orders.
“For anyone who’d like to grab one last sweet treat, a slice of rainbow crumb, to see whatever we have left, or simply stop in to say goodbye, we will be here,” she wrote. Gift cards may be redeemed for cash through Dec. 26.
The message ends with a heartfelt goodbye:
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for 7 incredible years.”’
