This Saturday you’ll be able to taste creations from Patchogue’s new distillery as well as try out 10 local food vendors.
That’s the plan for The Better Man Distilling Co. first-ever gourmet marketplace, which is set for tomorrow at its location in the old Blue Point Brewery on River Avenue.
The free-to-enter outing takes place from noon to 7 p.m. in the company’s unofficial tasting room — it’s the old tire shop building on the property at 161 River Avenue.
Better Man owners Anthony Gruppuso and his daughter, Abby, of Bayport, have been holding events at this space while their new tasting room is being built out in the adjacent building. The two expect to open the doors at the new spot sometime in May.
Since October, Gruppuso family has held a variety of events to introduce the public to their operation. They’ve held a comedy show, a cocktail and cheese pairing, and a Valentine’s Day night out.
“All the events have been going really, really well,” said Abby. “We’ve been making such great connections in the village.”
This will be Better Man’s first food marketplace.
“We have a bunch of great vendors coming,” said Abby. “And a majority of them brand-new businesses, which is really exciting.”

The food makers will be selling a mix of foods to prepare at home, as well as meals to eat during the afternoon.
Better Man will have an indoor lounge area and an outdoor seating near a fire pit.
“The event is perfect for food lovers and families,” Better Man wrote on its website.

- Magick Roasting Co. (coffee and beans)
- Little Porky’s Marinade (marinades, rubs, sandwiches)
- Tallmuthashucka (fresh shucked oysters)
- Fete Desserts (ice cream)
- Subtle Tea (tea)
- Eggcellent Quiche (quiche)
- Aggie M’s Cheesecake (cheesecake)
- Baked Right In (stuffed Waffles)
- Cori’s Kitchen (baked goods)
