After nearly two years of drawing record crowds, the Billy Joel exhibit at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is “movin’ out.”
The Hall announced this week that “Billy Joel: My Life, A Piano Man’s Journey” will close on Oct. 26, 2025.
“We have been honored to have been the home of the exclusive authorized exhibition for the first ever Billy Joel exhibit, curated by LIMEHOF’s own Kevin O’Callaghan,” said LIMEHOF Chairman Ernie Canadeo. “The response has been overwhelming, and we hope to continue to feature several items from his archives in the future.”
A record run
The exhibit opened on Nov. 24, 2023, and quickly became the Hall’s most popular showcase. Tens of thousands of visitors came through the Stony Brook museum — including fans from across the country and even overseas.
It featured more than 50 years of Joel’s career highlights: rare memorabilia, behind-the-scenes footage, awards, historic photos, and vintage instruments — much of it donated by the Piano Man himself.
Joel toured the exhibition before it opened and, according to Hall staff, was stunned by the scope of the collection. “Where did you get all this stuff?” he reportedly asked.
What’s next
The Hall, located at 97 Main St. in Stony Brook, said new rotating exhibits will be announced soon and are expected to debut on Thanksgiving weekend.
The Billy Joel exhibit’s farewell comes the same year the singer has been making his own exit from Long Island. Joel, who grew up in Hicksville, put his Centre Island estate recently, asking $29.9 million, according to real estate reports.
