Clothes. Furniture. Two decades of memories.
All of it was lost when a fire tore through the Bohemia home of the Brown family. But in the days since, their neighbors have answered with an outpouring of support.
The Browns — including Brooke, a recent Suffolk County Community College graduate, and her parents, Alan and Jill — has lived in Bohemia for more than 20 years.
A GoFundMe organized by Catherine Finn on Brooke Brown’s behalf says the fire destroyed the family’s home and everything inside it, leaving them to cover the cost of temporary housing, replacement clothing and other essentials as they figure out what comes next.
“The Browns have always been there for their neighbors, and now it’s our turn to support them in their time of need,” Finn wrote in the fundraiser.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign had raised more than $20,000, with 160 donations from the community.
Jill Brown is a licensed clinical social worker who has built a reputation across the area — she’s also a fencing coach.
