An elderly man’s plea for help for his sick wife has yielded a tidal wave of community support.
Joseph Ianne, 79, of Bohemia said his wife Louisa, 78, is battling a cancerous and inoperable brain tumor and that he has left work to be her caregiver at home.
He posted a heartfelt note about his wife on a GoFundMe page that he established to raise funds to provide better care for the woman and to offset some of the financial difficulty caused by him stopping working. Seventy-eight donors have contributed a total of $31,000 to the fundraising effort.
“She is not just my partner in life but also an incredible women, a devoted and caring mother and a super loving hands on grandmother. My wife has always been there for everyone,” Joseph Ianne wrote. “This is devastating and life changing to our family. We are trying to make her as comfortable as possible at home.
“Your support would mean the world to us,” he continued. “Even a small contribution can make a significant difference in giving Louisa as much comfort as she needs at home.”
“This is not easy for myself to ask for your support during this challenging time,” Joseph Ianne wrote. “Please keep Louisa in your prayers as she does for all of you.”
