Breeze Airways adds $39 flights from Long Island to Pittsburgh and Richmond

|

Breeze Airways and Islip Town officials on Tuesday announced that this May the up-and-coming airline will begin offering service out of MacArthur Airport to Richmond, Virginia and Pittsburgh.

The new flights — as cheap as $39 depending on when you fly and how much luggage you bring — are already on sale at Breeze Airways. Service to Richmond starts on May 18, while takeoffs for Pittsburgh begin May 25.

The seasonal offering ends on Sept. 5, officials said.

“Here we grow again,” Breeze Airways President Tom Doxey said. “We always look for routes that people are traveling today but can’t get there nonstop.”

Doxey added that the direct flights out of Islip enable Long Islanders to get to Pittsburgh and Richmond “twice as fast, for about half the price.”

While noting the added convenience for Long Island residents, Islip Supervisor Town Angie Carpenter also stressed that the new flights make it easier for travelers from the Pittsburgh and Richmond areas to visit Long Island during the summer months.

“Visitors from these cities will get to enjoy our Long Island beaches, restaurants, golf courses, cultural arts venues and charming downtowns,” she said. “We have worked hard at MacArthur Airport to give Long Island travelers more choices, and now they can fly on the airport’s ‘Nicest’ airline, Breeze Airways, to two more cities nonstop.”

Breeze now offers 143 nonstop routes between 35 cities in 21 states nationally. Breeze previously began providing service out of Islip to Charleston, South Carolina; Norfolk, Virginia; Tampa; Jacksonville; and New Orleans.

Guests on Breeze pick from three fare bundles that are offered as ‘Nice’, ‘Nicer’, and ‘Nicest’.  Nicest bundles are only available on flights operated with Airbus A220 aircraft.
